Dr. Kyle D. Planchard discusses ACL injuries on KTBS Healthline 3

August 20, 2025

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) attaches bone to bone and provides stability for the knee, connecting your tibia (shin bone) to your femur (thigh bone).

Genetics, gender, collagen and participation in contact sports are all risk factors for tearing your ACL. Different treatments can help with repairing and healing of the ACL. Rehabilitative therapies and reconstructive surgery can help people with ACL injuries regain full movement and athletes often get back on the field.

Prevent tearing your ACL by strengthening all of your leg muscles and preventing as much stress on the knee as possible. If an injury does cause limited movement, an MRI can verify if the injury is clinically significant. Orthopedic surgeons like Dr. Kyle D. Planchard at Willis Knighton are here to help you find the best surgical or nonsurgical solutions to keep your ACL healthy and strong.

Dr. Kyle D. Planchard, MD, with Willis Knighton Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Pierremont, sat down with KTBS 3 to discuss ACL injuries.
