Visitation
- We encourage family involvement during treatment. To maximize the benefits for you or your loved one, we encourage visitation from 5 to 6 p.m. Please follow these guidelines when you visit to help maintain a safe and therapeutic environment:
- Please leave in your vehicle purses, cell phones, cigarettes, pocketknives or anything that might compromise safety.
- Fill out your information on the visitor sign-in sheet.
- Leave keys to your vehicle with our staff when you sign in.
- Two visitors are allowed at a time.
- Please don’t carry anything to your loved one before you check with our staff.
These items are NOT allowed at any time:
- Medications from any source
- Any type of tobacco: cigarettes and lighters, snuff, chewing tobacco, e-cigarettes
- Glass items
- Shoestrings or boots. We prefer you bring shoes from home that have no strings.
- Spray cans (aerosol cans of hair spray, deodorant, etc.)
- Razors. A patient may have a family member bring them a chargeable battery-operated razor to use while in the hospital.
- Patients are not allowed to share razors.
- Sharp items
- Corded items such as blow dryers, curling irons or straighteners
- Cash, checks, credit cards, etc. No money is needed while hospitalized.
- Clothes hangers
- Hooded sweatshirts, although sweatshirts without a hood are permissible.
- Hoodies; clothes with drawstring
- Makeup will be checked in by the staff and is limited to: one foundation (no glass) or powder (no mirror), one mascara, one lipstick and one blush (no mirror), all in an appropriate container.
It is important to maintain an environment that is non-distracting and therapeutic at all times, according to the Patient Rules and Expectations guide.
Visitation typically takes place in the dining room or sunroom area and is monitored by a staff member at all times. The charge nurse may limit, delay, cancel or alter the location of visits for safety reasons. Support person visitation may be denied by the charge nurse based on the following:
- Inappropriate or abusive behavior and/or language
- Evidence of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- Inappropriate physical contact
- Provocative clothing
The following clothing items are not allowed:
- Bare midriffs, muscle shirts, tube tops, tank tops, camisoles, tights, tube socks or hoodies
- Clothing displaying profanity, obscene, violent or distasteful slogans
- Ads for tobacco, drugs or alcoholic drinks
- Bandanas, hats or head coverings
- Clothing or shoes with strings
- Walking shorts
