Palliative Services
When you’re facing cancer, palliative care can help improve your quality of life. Sometimes called supportive care or symptom management, it focuses on relieving pain and other symptoms while also supporting your emotional, spiritual and practical needs. Generally used early on alongside treatments like chemotherapy or radiation therapy, palliative care may even help improve how you respond to those treatments.
At Willis Knighton Cancer Center, palliative care is part of your comprehensive cancer care. Dr. Joyce Feagin, a board-certified palliative care physician, leads these services as part of your multidisciplinary care team.
Palliative care may include:
- Team-based care planning that involves you and your family
- Relief from pain and other physical symptoms
- Clear, compassionate communication with your care team
- Support for emotional and spiritual needs
- Counseling and resources for you and your family
- Bereavement support when needed
