Scope Procedures (Endoscopy)
Minimally Invasive Tools for Diagnosis and Treatment
Minimally invasive techniques can help diagnose and sometimes treat cancer. Endoscopic procedures allow your doctor to look inside your body using a thin, flexible tube with a camera. This can detect cancer early, guide treatment decisions and monitor your progress over time.
Common Endoscopy Procedures
Endoscopy procedures are typically performed on an outpatient basis with minimal recovery time. Our team ensures you’re comfortable, informed and supported every step of the way.
Preparing for Your Procedure
Your care team provides detailed instructions based on the specific type of endoscopy you're scheduled for. In general:
- Follow fasting guidelines. Most endoscopic procedures require you to avoid eating or drinking for several hours beforehand.
- Arrange for transportation. If you're receiving sedation, you'll need someone to drive you home after the procedure.
- Stop certain medications if advised. Let your doctor know about any medications, especially blood thinners, as you may need to pause them before the procedure.
- Complete any bowel prep. If you're having a colonoscopy, your care team will provide a special prep kit to help empty your colon the day before.
We’re here to answer your questions and help you feel fully prepared before your procedure.
