Patient Stories
Alan Golden
I’ve often thought: What if I wasn’t brought to Willis Knighton in time? What if they didn’t have the tPA (tissue plasminogen activator, a clot-busting drug)? And I’m realizing my life would be totally different.
Alan Golden was at home with his wife when he started displaying the symptoms of a stroke. An ambulance took him to the Stroke Center at Willis Knighton Pierremont. There doctors gave him a powerful clot-busting drug, and its effects were almost immediate. Within hours, sensation returned to his right arm and leg, and Golden walked out of the hospital a few days later, completely recovered.
