Information for Clergy

Dear Member of the Clergy,

Spiritual concerns of patients at Willis Knighton Health are very important. As we fulfill our mission to continuously improve the health and well-being of the people we serve, we realize that this ministry of healing includes body, mind and spirit. A hospital stay, and particularly a serious illness, can be a pivotal time in a person’s spiritual and physical life. It's times like these that patients have a special need for the love and support of pastors and ministers.

This page provides information about how to best offer pastoral care for your members when they are in a Willis Knighton Health hospital. We respect that, as a patient’s minister, you are the “first line” for spiritual care. Often, a visit to a member who is hospitalized can bring your pastoral relationship with them to a new level, and that is why we want to support your ministry to our patients.

As director of Spiritual Life Services, I have access to a team of trained volunteers who are ready and willing to help if you need assistance. I invite you to call on us if we can be of service.

Please review the tabs on this web page. We welcome your suggestions and I look forward to seeing you at Willis Knighton Health as we share in God’s work.

Sincerely,
Rev. Derrick Stevenson

Access to Patients

The best way for clergy to know when congregation members are in our hospitals is for individuals and family members to notify you directly. Our patient confidentiality policy does not allow Willis Knighton Health to share any patient information by phone.

When patients are admitted to the hospital, consent forms designate whether Willis Knighton Health can let clergy know their location. If the patient agrees, this information goes to the hospital receptionists. When you visit, please identify yourself as clergy at the reception desk and we will help you locate your members receiving care at Willis Knighton Health.

Clergy Badges

Local clergy can visit patients at any Willis Knighton Health location by showing a clergy badge. Badges are available free of charge at the Willis Knighton Innovation Center, 2105 Airline Drive, Bossier City. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You may call 318-212-2547 and ask for Kody or Ann if you have questions.

The clergy badges allow our staff to quickly recognize designated clergy so we can offer you any needed assistance. As a small token of our appreciation for your ministry, when you wear your clergy badge you get a free beverage of choice or a 20% discount when purchasing a meal in one of the hospital cafeterias.

Thank you for your spiritual support and care for patients as you assist with their healing process.
