Screening Recommendations
If you do not have a family history of breast cancer, you should start having mammograms at age 40 and continue each year.
Patients with a strong family history of breast cancer should start having mammograms before age 40. Generally, you should begin 10 years prior to the age of breast cancer diagnosis in a first-degree relative. For example: If your mom or sister was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 40, you should start screening at age 30.
