Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS)
Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is a non-surgical type of radiation therapy that treats tumors and abnormalities of the brain. This is in contrast to conventional radiosurgery systems that require invasive frame-based masks to immobilize the patient for daily treatments.
When SRS treats body tumors, it is called stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT). SRS and SBRT allow your doctor to deliver precise radiation at a much higher dose in just one or a few treatments compared to traditional radiation therapy.
