Obstetric Emergency Department (OBED)

You have access to emergency care for pregnancy related conditions 24/7 at the Willis Knighton Obstetrics Emergency Department.  

This emergency care is designed for you if you are 20+ weeks pregnant and following your delivery.  This special unit is open 24 hours a day and is covered by a qualified obstetrician and nurses.

Maternal-Fetal Medicine

High risk pregnancies are managed by experienced maternal-fetal medicine specialists. The health of the mother and fetus during pregnancy is their focus.

They care for mothers-to-be with preexisting health conditions or those who are likely to experience pregnancy-related complications, including:

  • Diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Pre-eclampsia
  • Preterm labor
  • Pregnancy with multiples (twins, triplets, etc.)

Maternal-fetal medicine doctors also diagnose and monitor fetus development, identifying problems that may be treated during pregnancy or immediately following delivery.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Most babies are born without issues, but for those who need specialized care, the Willis Knighton neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is the right place to be. We provide life-saving care close to home for high-risk babies born at our hospitals and other hospitals in the region. You’ll appreciate the unique family focus of our NICU that features private rooms to enhance bonding with your new baby during this delicate time.
